Hutwe is a village located in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The terrain around this village has long been rich and fertile, with abundant water from a nearby river.
Insecurity in the region in the 1990s and 2000s isolated many areas of North Kivu province. But now, the atmosphere in Hutwe is calm to begin a future in agriculture, and the SOPROCOPIV cooperative is helping farmers to process and sell their high-quality coffee.
About 70 percent of the people in the village are involved in coffee production, and the partnership between the farmers and the cooperative is providing a positive impact, from training programs to technical assistance on how best to grow the coffee.
The 84+ fully washed Kivu-3 Congo from Hutwe brings you notes of praline, wine, and tobacco. The coffee has a full mouthfeel, the sweetness is high, the acidity is citric, and the coffee has a medium to long aftertaste.
